Abstract
Current research dealing with vitamin A is vigorous and diverse, with a strong impact on several fields of medicine and public health, ranging from ophthalmology and nutrition to dermatology and nutrition to dermatology and oncology. Retinoids may in time prove to value in other areas of medicine (such as rheumatic connective tissue disorders) as well. Future research will determine the scope and promise of these developments.
